The Canadian Junior Limousin Association (CJLA) will be sending two CJLA members to Australia on the Australian/Canadian Limousin Youth Exchange in 2016. Applications were received up to February 1st and the two lucky CJLA members who have been selected as the inaugural recipients of the award trip are Braeden Weppler of Tara, ON and Brandon Hertz of Duchess, AB!
Braeden and Brandon will be travelling to Australia for four weeks in August 2016 where they will tour numerous Limousin studs and stay with host families that will take them to Ekka Royal Queensland Show, one of Australia’s largest cattle shows, held in Brisbane. While at the Ekka they will spend a day with Jon Gaffney of Graneta Limousins. Upon departing Brisbane they will travel the Gold Coast and then head down to Dubbo, New South Wales where they will tour St Johns College facilities and steer production program, Mirambee feedlot, the Western Plains Zoo, the saleyards, Sheraton Limousins, and Ruby Park Limousins. They will then travel to Birubi Limousin Stud and assist with preparations for the Birubi On Property Production Sale. Following the Birubi sale Braeden and Brandon will travel to Flemington Limousin Stud in Adelong, NSW and spend a week on the farm, tour an abbattoir, visit a feedlot and the local saleyards before departing back to Canada from Sydney.
These CJLA members will also receive $1,000 each from the CJLA to cover their travel expenses. The Australian/Canadian Limousin Youth Exchange is planned to continue again in 2016/17 so if you are a CJLA member age 16-21 make sure you apply next fall!
